Happy Birthday, Christy :-) . . . and a giveaway at Scarlet Lime!

Happy Birthday, Christy!

We hope you are having a great weekend at CKU Reunion. You are an amazingly talented artist. Thank you for inspiring us each month.

Here are a few cards that we made with your awesome Scarlet Lime kits:

from Dena (using the pretty October Main kit)

from Lori (she combined products from the August, September, and October main kits).

from Mimi (she added in some mixed media items from the shop with products from both October kits).

from Melanie (she used the October Main kit).

from Rachel (she used the September Main kit)

To help celebrate Christy's special day, please leave a comment on the Scarlet Lime blog letting us know your favorite birthday tradition. A winner will be randomly chosen and will win a $25 gift certificate to the Scarlet Lime shop! The winner will be announced Nov. 1st. :)

A "Get Your Fingers Dirty" tutorial...

I am just loving the new Want2Scrap™ Nestaboard™ especially these new Label Twenty-Three and I am looking at new ways to use it. I wanted to show you a great way to dress them up with some fantastic mixed media products.

These are the materials we will need:
Nestaboard™
Gesso
Claudine Hellmuth Paint
Faber-Castrell Gelatos
Nestabling
Bling
Sticker
Paintbrush and Water

First add a little gesso to your Nestaboard™.

After it is dry draw some of the gelato on the Nestaboard and add water to spread the color. I used two blues, a lighter in the middle and darker on the outer edge.

After that is dry I added some paint to the paint to the edges.

Now dress it up with Labels Twenty-Three Nestabling™, Turquoise Baby Bling Rhinestones, and a sticker as the focal point.

A few details...

Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you feel like getting your hands dirty now too!

Mimi Leinbach: Scarlet Lime Inspirational Projects

This kits this month at Scarlet Lime are gorgeous but I also added some fun stuff from the mixed media store which are so dang fun you have to add these to you stash.

With the frugal kit this month I create this layout of my boys on a trip to Universal Studios. We had such a fun day. I added some fun stamps and Claudine Hellmuth Paints which are my new favorite products.

Check out how the paints draw out the design on the book plate.

This layout was based on this photo which totally inspired me.

Next I decided that I wanted to create a few new pages in my art journal based on this photo and Christy's amazing mixed media classes.

My love of the beach, all things tropical and these fantastic colors helped me create these pages...

Nikki Sivils October...check out our GDT this month!

I can not believe it is October already...that means Halloween is right around the corner so it was time for to make a treat bag. My little nephew comes to trick-or-treat with the boys each year so I try to make him a little something special. This year the My Lil' Monster line was perfect for it!

A few details...

This will be filled with whatever treats we decide on for this year...

I also wanted to make a card with this line, but decided to go outside the box making an I love you card with this is pretty unexpected! This will be perfect for one of my boys for some special occasion!

Now that my little guy has moved up to 5th grade at a new school he decided to join the reading club! YAY!!!! I made him this book mark using the You' re a Hoot line. The plastic sleeve from Traditions Studios makes is super easy to make them.

Be sure to stop by the Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker blog today. We have a fantastic guest designer this month! Check out the designs from Megan Hoeppner from Creating Keepsakes Magazine.

Want2Scrap™, Simple Stories, Score-Pal, and Eco Green Crafts all in one!!

Simple Stories is now a new preferred partner of Want2Scrap™. Lucky me to get to work with these fantastic papers from their 100 Days of Summer Line!

I also got this great Scor-Pal! Now that I am making more cards this will be a great new tool to have in my stash. I want to thank these great companies for sending us these fun goodies. I also added a little Eco Green Crafts ink to the edges of my card for a little added definition.

This is what I had fun making with them! I love that these papers have some pre-printed sentiments on them...it so easy to work with them.

I used these Style C Chipboard Embellishments. I sprayed them with ink and added the 72 Count Amber Rhinestones. What a great way to add additional color and texture.

Don't miss the new Pearl Nestabling™. It is the perfect way to frame just about anything. Be sure to remember to stop by the store this month and support the Susan G. Komen Foundation with the purchase of any pink products!

Scarlet Lime: What ispires me...

All this week on the Scarlet Lime blog we are answering the question what inspires us, be sure to check it out!

The better question is what doesn't inspire me...everything does. Photography is a major inspiration for me. You can sit down for two minutes at your computer to surf the net and come up with some amazing inspiration...I found this on the website Oddee, the photographer was not credited but this can start you off with color inspiration or the simplistic design.

This photo caught my eye instantly...another great place to look for inspiration that is right at the tip of your fingers. Cell phone backgrounds...there are thousands right there with fantastic colors, designs and photography.

I am also inspired by classes right here at Scarlet Lime. If you have not taken one you truly are missing out. Last month Christy inspired me to create this canvas...

Mimi_September Main_Gabi Canvas

Her color class had me digging in to paint colors I never thought I would have used...

Mimi_Sept Main_Gabi Canvas 2JPG

There is no better inspiration than digging it a pile of paint, rub-ons, and pattern paper for me!

I hope you can help but feel inspired by all the post this week on the Scarlet Lime blog...we had a great time sharing our points of inspiration with you!
