Take it off the page!

I have another fun GCD Studios layout to share with you. This one of my favorite techniques for making a page unique. Take it off the page! Just because paper is sold in 12 x 12 squares does not mean every layout has to be square.

I added a black bracket edge to one side. I then cut the page down to 12 x12 again so it would fit into a page protector in my album. This is such a quick and easy way to add a bit of drama to a layout.

For this layout I used the Artsy Urban line. I just love these papers and brads...perfect for an outdoor layout like this.

For this card using the Homespun Chic collection, I let the hand cut flowers hang over the edge. It just gives the project a little more interest.

We are headed away to a soccer tourney for the weekend! Have a great holiday! Thanks so much for stopping by!

You have to love this time of year...

It is so crazy busy...but it is all fun stuff! School concerts, Field day, Field Trip for both the boys. Soccer tournaments, riding lessons, and lacrosse. This year both the boys field trips fell on the same day so my hubby took his first with Jack. I went with Nick to his...a big one...Washington D.C.

I don't know how we fit it all in but we saw all the monuments, the White House, 3 museums...needless to say my feet were killing me. Here are a few pictures. This is the Lincoln Memorial.

The White House

We saw a group of WWII vets having their picture at the memorial...it literally brought tears to my eyes.

We got tickets to go into the Butterfly Pavilion at the Smithsonian...I just loved that!

Of course I need a picture of my boy!

Now for some scrappy fun!

I did a Pebbles layout using the new May Bouquet. I really love how pretty this line is but can still be used for both boy and girl layouts.

Here are a few details...

I am in love with Nikki's line Dan the Record Man. It is so versatile! I created this layout of my brother's puppy Jake. Is he not the cutest?

Spellbinders did a fun product swap with the design team and I was thrilled to get a few embossing impressabilites...these are so darn fun! For this layout I laid a die over some cardstock and with a make-up sponge I inked over it. I then punched some circle out of the cardstock...super easy way to make your own unique embellishments. Thank you so much Spellbinders!

Here is a little detail shot...

I also used a die to emboss over metal tape. I think it makes for a great effect...very masculine too! Just in time for Father's Day!

This is kind of tough to see...sorry! The glare off metal tape makes it tough to get a picture of.

Last but not least I wanted to share a card I made for someone that has been having a rough couple of weeks. I used spray inks to color the flowers and then laid the punched circle over them...added a few dots of stickles for fun...so pretty I think!

Hope you are all having a great Monday! Thanks for stopping by!

Just a little shorter than the last...

I just loved the nesting dolls theme challenge the DT had at GCD Studios this month! When my brother was in high school he was invited to wrestle in several countries including Russia. When he was there he traded a pair of jeans for 2 sets of dolls. I still have them...my kids loved playing with them when they were babies. I just love how they look all lined up, everyone just a little shorter than the last.

I decided to use that inspiration for my layout design. Each photo is placed just a little lower than the last. I think it really makes for an eye pleasing design.

For this layout I used the Artsy Urban Collection. I think its homey feel suits the design and nesting doll theme perfectly.

Here are a few details...you can not help but love all the amazing embellishments that come with this line.

Happy Mother's Day and one of my favorite layouts ever...

I don't know why some layouts become favorites but I love this one. There is no picture of my boys, or my sweet hubby, or my Bassett Hound Lucy. No adorable nieces or cutie nephews. For some reason I love this one.

I took these photos for my photography class. I was sitting at another soccer practice for my son. It was the day before my class and I had "homework". I needed to take pictures of a non-living stationary object. After looking around this bag was what I had and I shot away. After printing the photos I knew I had to do a layout using them.

My son Nick has loved soccer from the first time he played and it has become such a huge part of our lives. I think I showed that even without a picture of Nick.

I made this layout to highlight some of Want2Scrap's fun goodies. This is the third project I have used these acrylic stars on. This time I layered several different rub-ons on them to "dress them up". I also used Want2Scrap's ribbon and I so love their black pearls! Check out the store here.

Don't forget to stop by the GCD Studios blog. The DT challenge this month was so fun and the girls are making amazing projects each day!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all enjoy the Mother's Day weekend. We will spend it at a soccer tournament and I will be loving it! Hugs!

Marks Paper Company Projects!

I have always loved Stacy's designs from Marks Paper Company. This months digital designs are so fun and versatile. I must say... and I never thought I would say this but I love challenging myself each month to do a hybrid layout. I will always be a "tradional scrapper" but I do love to mix it up and working with a digital kit every now and again is a great way to do that.

Jack is far from a toddler anymore but he still loves to play with toys. Right now he is loving the Zhu Zhu pets. I used Stacy's Birds, Blooms, and Bikes Digital Kit. This is only available at 2Peas so be sure to check it out .

I also made this tag. I just wanted to try something a little more rustic. I know it is not my "typical" style but like I said sometimes it is just fun to play outside the box.

Well, I seem to be yawning so I better head of to bed before I get a second wind and never get to sleep. Hugs and thanks for stopping by!
