This weekend Nick was the winner of the 15 and under division of the 1st annual Spring Fever 5K with a time of 21:48. He also came in 13th overall in the race...not too bad for a 12-year old.

Beach Boys Mini and GLEE!

I received this totally fun tabbed acrylic mini album from Want2Scrap and knew immediately I wanted to make a beach mini book. I actually turned the album so that the tabs would look like the ocean's surf and waves...it had been a while since I worked on an acrylic mini and I must say it was a ton of fun!

Here is a little close up... after cutting out the wave I rubbed crystal lacquer all over it and then sprinkled just a bit of white glitter on it.

I used Bella Blvd's All Inclusive line for this mini and the blue gems from Want2Scrap work perfectly with it. I just LOVE this paper line...perfect for the summer and beach fun!

My kids favorite part of the beach is playing in the sand and boogie boarding...I made sure I included photos of each in my mini.

I love that we get to play in the surf right next too the dolphins and seagulls. I also added pictures of them in my mini.

Water play is a must and my little nephew Jake LOVED it this year...here he is getting a little help from his dad and Jack on the boogie board. The other picture is Nick getting slammed by a big wave...such fun. Thanks for letting me share!

If you didn't see it last night it was the tribute to Madonna! As a child of the 80's and of course a Madonna fan I was hooked.

This video has me dancing around the house!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I be back in a few days to share some fun Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker projects!

GCD Studios Homespun Chic!

I have always been a fan of GCD Studios, but when I finally got the Homespun Chic line by Melody Ross...I was blissfully happy! The colors and designs are gorgeous and I just loved playing with all this goodness.

I created this layout with some of the fabulous papers, embellies, and borders from the Homespun Chic line. I love taking spring and summer floral pictures and hydrangeas are some of my favorite. I used this layout to highlight this flower from my brother's yard.

I created my own flower and then surrounded it with pre-made embellishments that I enhanced by adding just a few brads, bling and glass.

This flower started as a plain white flower. I sprayed it with some pink mist, added a pearl to the center and drizzled a little glue on it. I then sprinkled it with crushed glass. I love the elegance it adds to the layout. It also draws out the colors in the pattern paper.

Being the mom to two boys it was so much fun to do this pretty pink layout! Thanks so much for dropping by!

Earth Day Theme Week on the Pebbles Blog

Be sure to check out the Pebbles Blog each day this week for tons of inspiration. It is Earth Day week and you will be thrilled will all the projects!

Here is the project I did!

I could not do an Earth Day project without including recycling of some sort. To create my background I used a large paint chip made by Behr Paint. All the paper used in this project came straight from my Pebbles scrap bin.

I will check back later this week...I will be posting a GCD Studios project tomorrow, aWant2Scrap (the new store is open) and Bella Blvd mini on the 21st. I also have several Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker projects to post on the 24th. Last but not least I will be picking my RAK winner this week, it is not too late to enter...check it out here.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

That's my little boy they are hitting with sticks and some sneaks...

Lacrosse has started and this is all so new to us. Jack seems to be loving it despite the idea that they are constantly hitting each other, lol! If it was his brother hitting him with a stick I guarantee it would not be so much fun!

Jack actually ran away with this ball and got a shot on the net...it went in and the goalie caught it, of course it was the only ball caught the entire game! LOL

He is set and ready here...

Yes, my little one is in this melee.

We didn't win the game but boy he sure did seem to have fun!

Soccer has also started...actually it never really finished. We just went from indoor to outside...

Getting the ball...

Not only do they jump higher this year...

But it is a much more physical game, as you can see...

Nick didn't grow much this year but he apparently realized you don't have to be big to fight back, yikes!

Be sure to check the Pebbles blog each week day. There are new post each week day...here is a little sneak for one of my projects this week.

Here is another sneak of a mini I made using an acrylic album fromWant2Scrap and tons of Bella Blvd goodies!

I will also soon be sharing a new layout made with all GCD Studios goodness as well as a few projects using Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker. One of our DT gals came up with a fab challenge for us...one I have never done before...very fun! Last but not least if you have not picked up the new digi kit from Marks Paper Company snag it quick. Stacy had pulled me into the hybrid world and I must say it is alot of fun! Check it out! You can get it only on 2peas.

Well off for a family day and another lacrosse game! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

I feel free...

I am not usually one to write too many personal things on my blog...but I feel free and refreshed and it feels just so good! I got rid of one of those things in my life that has been weighing me down and now the world is roses colored again!

I have been walking Jack to school in the morning this week and adding at least another 3 miles on the way back. I have done some organizing. My laundry is caught up and I can vacuum most days...I have a thing about vacuuming alot! It is one of my quirks!

Going to the grocery store was not even so bad, I don't think I will ever really like it though. I have made dinner each night and have even tried several new recipes. Josh is loving having real dinners again! Tonight is The Food Networks Magazine Bang Bang Shrimp recipe...just like Bonefish Restaurant they say, Yum!

I have made this Eggs in a Basket breakfast that is on the cover for the boys this week and they are devouring it. Jack has even been helping make his own.

I started my photography class this week, yippee! Here is a peak of my first homework assignment! Do you know what it is? I will pick a RAK winner from everyone that leaves a guess in the comments!

I am looking forward to scrapping and visiting some of my favorite blogs which I just have not gotten to do. Thanks friends for letting me purge...I just could not hold it in any longer!

Now for some scrappy projects!

I always love playing with my Pebbles AC goodies! This month I made 2 projects. For this one I mixed and matched lots of Pebbles papers and some of my favorite Easter photos.

I featured some of my favorite beach photos in this layout and made this simple sun embellishment. Check out the Pebbles AC blog for the easy directions.

Here is a close-up...

Thanks friends! I will be back soon...no more of this one a week posting stuff for me!

Shoot and Score!

A a soccer mom to 2 very addicted soccer players I was so excited to get laser cut soccer titles this month from Want2Scrap. Of course nothing goes better with sports than stars so I was set to make this layout about my son Nick.

For the background treatment I dug into my stash and found a foam stamp to create all the background circles...I think they look great with the soccer theme.

I used Smootch Spray ink to color the chipboard words red. I also loved the bit of sheen it adds. It is really a quick and easy way to make a title for your layout. I embellished with both acrylic stars and stars cut from pattern paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

GCD Studios Scrapbook.com Challenge

This month over at Scrapbook.com I posted a GCD Studios challenge! Check it out here and be sure to give it a go for a chance to win some awesome goodies! Sometimes I tend to get into a scrappy funk and need a challenge to get me to do something new...this challenge is just for you if you find yourself in the same place from time to time.

I challenged myself to incorporate some sort of mixed media (paint, ink, or other fun technique) into my layout. I tend to keep things very neat and clean. I rarely add any kind of ink, paint or distressing. Not for this layout!

I dug into my paint, spray ink, and the new GCD Studios Tool and chipboard! I still kept true to my typical layout style but I "dressed up" my title by using using the tool to stamp little snowflakes on the G. I then very lightly painted it with white paint. After it was dried I sprayed it with a little spray ink and then lightly wiped it off. I love how the ink seeped into the embossed images.

So if your feeling a little bit "artsy" and need a jump start before your next project. Pull out some paint or other mixed media product and scrap away!
