An Altered Tin for my Niece...

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are enjoying a peaceful day recovering from all the festivities. For Christmas I try to make my nieces homemade gifts to go with their other gifts. I made one of my nieces this altered tin from a hot chocolate tin...it still smells delish to boot!

One of Want2Scraps preferred partners is My Little Shoebox. I knew this would be perfect for Maya! I seriously love the 3-D Flower Roll-ups. What a great embellishment you can layer and  make your own.

Of course I love my bling! And this Winged Butterfly Bling is one of my favorite products.

The cute little embellishments from this line are the perfect compliment for Want2Scraps Bling Borders.

I hope you are all enjoying this holiday season!

Tis the Season for a Snowman Canvas...

I love to make art canvases. I never thought I would. I always though you had to be an "artist" to make a canvas but classes by the amazing Christy Tomlinson taught me that anyone can be an artist. With the holiday soon upon us I decided to make a snowman canvas that I could display longer than a holiday specific canvas.

The trees are just so easy to make, by cutting a triangle for the tree and a small rectangle for the stump...simple as that. Adding a few details with rub-ons and pens make them so dimensional.

I am seriously so in love with the Christmas Bling by Nina Brackett. There are two varieties to choose from and you can't go wrong.

Want2Scrap also has some great new Winter Releases. I love the fun chipboard words. I used the word Blessed. I painted on Gesso and then spray ink. I then added a layer of Sakura Chrystal Lacquer. It holds everything and is perfect for holding crushed glass. Last but not least a few strips of my favorite new product, Nina Brackett's Chevron Bling. Love it!

I hope you all have a Blessed Holiday!

Fun, Fall project and a simple tutorial!

Can you smell it? Fall is in the air. I am enjoying the beautiful colors all around us as I visit soccer fields all over the Northeast, lol! I am taking a fun class by Christy Tomlinson called Pumpkins & Cider. If you have not had the chance to take a class by her now it the time, she inspired me to create this fall canvas! Thanks Christy! Adding a little Want2Scrap bling added the perfect detail!

This is a larger canvas than I usually do, a full 12x12. I loved having the extra space to play with.

I added a ton of texture to this using tissue paper, paint, masks, light modeling paste and lots of layers of rub-ons.

I also added lots of bling and some fun silhouettes.

I found a cute basket at the Target Dollar Spot. I dressed it up for fall, but the great thing about this is I can change it every season. Here is a little tutorial on how I altered the tags to hang on the basket.

I started out with these  Manilla Tags from Want2Scrap. I then sprayed them with some fall colored spray ink.

Allow them a little drying time and used ink to color the Alphabet.

Now just embellish as needed and attach the tags to your basket with mini clothes pins.

Hopefully you are now inspired to do some fall creating for yourself!

Mixed Media: Color to the Max by Want2Scrap!

Fall is just around the corner and soon the leaves will be changing and and colorful leaves will be falling from the trees. My first project this month is an altered canvas using fall as my inspiration...greens, oranges, and a little pink for good measure. I really blinged my projects out this month...love the shine it can bring to any creation.

Just because it is almost fall does not mean a flower can not be the object of my art. I cut seven circles and easily made this fun flower.

At the center of my flower are several Blue Rose Ribbon 1". Adds a great texture! One of my favorite products are the Beautiful Bling Borders. The Fancy waves are so fun!

Of course the must use on every project is the bling! I used the Pink Rhinestones - 72 Count. These really are a must have in every color. I used them on EVERY SINGLE project I do.

Next up a few new pages in my art journal. Since color was my focus I decided to make my pages about it.

I used Faber-Castell Gelato to create the rainbow background. These are super simple. I used Gesso as a base for each page, colored on the gelato, brushed on water and a gorgeous watercolor based background was the result.

This gorgeous Small Pearl White Flower just pops from the page with this colorful background.

I use the Sleep Strips - White Pearls almost as often as I use the bling. It is a staple in my craft room.

The White Pearl Swirls and Bling Hearts are so versatile and can work on anything. I hope you are now feeling inspired to do a little creating of your own.

Altered Fun and a Tutorial!

As usual I was thinking ahead...some birthdays coming up for my fantastic nieces. I try to make something homemade for them each year. So here we go...

I did a little tutorial using Sakura Crystal Lacquer and  Terri Sprouls Mixer's. I altered this pressed paper A that I found at the dollar spot in Target.

This is for my dear niece Adrienne. Here are a few details...

and a little bit more...

This is a super cute and really easy embellishment to make. Use an empty bottle cap.

By mixing both the 3D Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sprouls Mixer you can get a great look.

This is so easy, after mixing them I then used a popsicle stick to spoon the mixture into the bottle cap. I also used a little of the left over mixture to paint on the edges for a little pop!

Now I added my letter A and sprinkled a little glitter and a few micro beads for some added details.

I let it sit over night to harden and it really is a fun and unique embellishment!

One of my other nieces birthday's is coming up and I made her a embellished tin that I plan on putting a gift card in.

Do yo love that sheen that the Crystal Lacquer adds to the project...and it hold everything.

Those micro beads will not fall off for anything!

I hope this makes you want to dig in and create some fun projects for someone you love!

Want2Scrap, Graphic 45, and Art Glitter Blog Hop!

Want2Scrap is teaming up this week to bring you tons of inspiration using Want2ScrapGraphic 45, and Art Glitter !

After you check out my project head to the Want2ScrapGraphic 45,  and Art Glitter blogs.

It has been such a quick summer, it is half over and all I hear is back to school. I  have not had to time to catch up with a dear friend  and her darling little guy. So since I was thinking about them I decided to make a canvas for her new son Max. Proof that they have been on my mind...and after this post is done...I am going call and set up a lunch date.

These canvases are now my favorite projects to make!

Of course I also had to dig into some of the new CHA Summer Releases.  These Chipboard Angel Wings are one of my new favorites.

I used Clearsnap Smootch to paint some of the wooden stars. The Art Institute Glitter was perfect. I used it to great tri-dots all around the canvas. I also added it to the Mod Podge for a hint of sparkle throughout the canvas.

Of course the perfect base for all of these fun products were the gorgeous papers from Graphic 45. The Little Darlings release was absolutely perfect for this and gorgeous to boot!

Now you need to pop on over to Keely Yowler's Blog and see the fabulous creations she has to share! Remember, do forget to stop at the manufacturer blogs too!

Be sure to check back every day this week for more project inspiration!  Want2Scrap will be giving a $100.00 giveaway to one lucky commenter's who comments on the designer blogs as well as the Want2Scrap's blogMake sure you come back each day and enter to win and stop by the Want2Scrap Facebook Page
